Neil Walker Bookmark by Gemma

This is my first post for The Artistic Stamper in 2018, and I would like to wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year.

I have been playing with one of the wonderful new releases from The Artistic Stamper. A fabulous square heart and border stamp set designed by Neil Walker and I have a bookmark to share with you all using the border stamp.

I stamped the border onto a piece of white cardstock using a black versa mark ink pad and heat embossed the image with black embossing powder.

Then I sprinkled some Infusions over the top, remember a little goes a long way. I dabbed some of the colour off using a bit of kitchen towel and then left it to dry, before trimming the cardstock to size.

To finish I matted the card onto a piece of black chipboard (I could not find my black card) and added some doodling with a white pen. To finish I added some ribbon and string to a hole made at the top.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my project

Journal Bookmark by Gemma

Today I have a bookmark I made for my art journal, I will be doodling away, stop for some reason and then spend an age looking for the page I am working on. The bookmark is almost the full length of my largest journal so if I remember to use it, I should spend less time looking for a page and more time playing.

I marked the length and shape of the bookmark using the wavy edge of an acrylic block. The base of the bookmark is the side of a cereal box. Once cut out, cover in a layer of tissue paper and gesso.

Blend red, orange and purple acrylics over the top, and dry completely.

Spread some white acrylic paint over a craft mat, press your stamp into the paint and then stamp onto the card. This should give you a nice uneven image with lots of texture.

Spread some pink and yellow paint on your mat, I mixed both of my colours with white so they were a little more opaque and stood out against the background. Then stamp the two largest circles from the set over the top.

To finish I punched several holes in the top of the bookmark and threaded different ribbons through them and plaited them together.

Thank you for reading

Shrink to fit....

Hello everyone, Astrid here with my latest project. Quite a simple one but fun to do, and I quite like the result even if I say so myself.....
Apart from the stamps I have used several Distress products, as this month's challenge theme is "Use Distress".
Here is the list of what I used:
Stamps:
Leaves by Katie Fox
Leaves Background

Other products
Shrink Plastic
Distress Stain Gathered Twigs
Distress Inks: Bundled Sage, Pine Needles, Aged Mahogany, Rusty Hinge, Walnut Stain, Seedless Preserves
Archival Ink: Potting Soil
Seambinding
Heat tool

From my stash:
Treasure Gold, small piece of Hessian, embossing folder, Kraft card, home made mica spray, eyelet and setting tool small leaf charm

I started by stamping one of the leaves with Potting Soil archival onto some shrink plastic three times, I then cut them out and  shrunk the leaves with my heat tool. I love the detail you get. Here you can see it (after I had mounted them and rubbed some treasure gold around the edges).
I created a little panel to be the vocal point of my bookmark, it measure about 1 1/4 by 3 3/4". I coloured with Aged Mahogany, Rusty Hinge and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks and gave it a few spritzes of a home made gold mica spray.

Next I created the background panel, it measures exactly 2 by 6". I coloured it with some Bundled Sage Distress Ink and a tiny bit of Walnut Stain around the edges. Then I stamped the Leaves background in Pine Needles Distress Ink.. I ran the bottom part through an embossing folder and then highlighted the raised bits with the Treasure Gold and Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I then mounted the central panel on a piece of hessian and adhered that to the background panel. This was then adhered to a piece of Kraft card.
I died some seam binding to tone in with my central panel. I used a mix of Gathered Twigs Distress Stain and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink, rubbed straight onto the seem binding and then sprayed with lots of water.
I punched a whole and set an eyelet at the top of the bookmark and added a little charm.

And that was it, - project complete.
Hope you like my bookmark, they are quick and easy to do and make great little gifts. Perhaps I have even inspired you to use some stamps on shrink plastic. It is a great way to use large stamps on small projects!

And don't forget, there are just a few days left to join in our challenge, all the detail can be found HERE

Have a creative week and thank you so much for visiting!!

Who does not love to read??

Hello everyone
Welcome and good to see you here!. Hope you are all well ahead with your Christmas preparations! Can you believe it is now less than 2 weeks away (scary.....)
I love making gifts and have a friend who is an avid reader, so what better gift than a homemade book mark? To make it look a bit more special, I created a book-shaped holder to tug the bookmark into.

These were the stamps and other products I used:
Stamps:
Traveling Words
Christmas plate 3
Mini Christmas
Calligraphic Mat 12
Other products:
Ideaology Kraft Resist Seasonal
 Claudine Helmuth Multi Medium Matte
Ranger Distress Stains in Pewter, Bundled Sage and Picket Fence
Distress Inks in Bundled Sage, Brushed Corduroy, Peacock Feather, Festive Berries
Adirondac Color Wash Cranberry
Archival Ink in Jet Black and Cobalt
From My Stash:
Various dies, Treasure Gold, corner rounder punch, smooth stamping card, foam tape, gold embossing powder, small piece of scrapbook paper, crinkled seam binding, script embossing folder, various small embellishments.
1. I started by cutting a piece of the Kraft Resist Seasonal paper to & 3/4 by 7 1/2 inches and scored and then folded along the long side at 3 3/4 and 4". I rounded the corners, inked around the edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and then Treasure Gold White Fire, to give it an aged antique look. This is the cover of the booklet.

2. I cut a piece of smooth white card to the same size and scored in exactly the same way. I spread the distress stains on my craft mat, swiped my card through it several times, spritzt it with water and dried it with my heat gun. I then inked it further with my chosen Distress Inks until I was happy with the result. Next I gold embossed the Calligraphic Mat stamp all over it and inked around the edges, and finally glued it onto the cover using Multi Matte Medium

3. To embellish the outside I stamped the Santa stamp from the Christmas Plate twice with Jet Black Archival ink, coloured with Distress inks and  die cut and layered as shown in the picture. I fastened a piece of seam binding, died with Cranberry Color Wash underneath my ornament first.I then mounted it onto the cover with foam tape. Those of you who are observant will see that the die cut is a Spellbinders die and the great news is that in the new year the Artistic Stamper will start to stock Spellbinder dies, so keep your eyes peeled!!

4. The inside was done in a similar way, creating a pocket with one of the die-cuts that I ran through an embossing folder first.
Here you can see some more detail:

5. For the bookmark I cut a a piece of strong card to 2 by 6" and covered it on two sides with scrapbook paper. I stamped one of the stamps of the Traveling Words set in Jet Black archival ink, cut, inked and mounted it as shown and finished it with some ribbon and small embellishments.

Here you can see the bookmark inside its pocket:
Here finally you can see the back of the booklet, again I first cut a bit of seam binding and then glued a small die cut ornament over it

Well |I hope you enjoyed this little project and feel inspired to make some of your own last minute gifts still.
I wish you all the most wonderful, peaceful and happy Christmas. I will be back on Boxing Day with another project.
Until then, stay happy and crafty!
