Mother and Daughter Love by Alison Hall

Hello Stampers! I met the lovely Donna Rodgers at The Artistic Stamper last weekend, which reminded me that I hadn't had a play with her designs for a while. So I got out her sweet Mother and Daughter set and created this little card. Quite handy, as it's my daughter's birthday this month ;-)

Here's what I used...

Katy Leitch - Greetings

Acrylic Paint - green & blue

Ranger Archival Ink - Jet Black

Here's what I did...

1. I started by brayering green acrylic paint onto a piece of white card (about 12 x 12 cm), then sponged blue paint through the Retro Bursts stencil.

2. I stamped Donna's mother & daughter image bottom left, then the heart border underneath, & also at the top right (3 times). I also stamped the larger heart on the mother. I used a white pen to add highlights to the hearts.

3. I stamped the mother & daughter image & words, & the 'love you' circle from Katy's Greetings, onto white card, then cut them all out. I layered the mother & daughter over the image on my background, then inked the edges of the words & glued them in place.

4. I matted my artwork onto black card, then attached it to a square white card to finish.

I hope you like this simple little card.

Hello Stampers! I have a bright & cheery birthday card to share with you today.

Here's What I Used...

Watercolour Cardstock

Dylusions Ink Sprays - Lemon Zest, Fresh Lime, & Calypso Teal

Ranger Archival Ink Pads - Aquamarine & Jet Black

Here's What I Did...

1. I started by cutting two pieces of 6x6ins water colour card.

2. I spritzed one piece of the 6x6 ins card with water, then with lemon zest Dylusions ink. Then I laid the other 6x6 ins card on the top to mop up some of the ink, and then dried both pieces with a heat gun.

3. Next, I laid the Retro Bursts template on one piece of card, spritzed with fresh lime Dylusions ink, then laid the other card on top to pick up the ink on the stencil. So, after drying, I ended up with two nice inky backgrounds.

4. I took the left hand background, and used aquamarine archival ink to stamp Calligraphic Mat 13 on it.

5. I used jet black archival ink to stamp 'Happy Birthday' from Grungy Greetings Plate No. 1, onto the right hand background. I cut my greeting out, then matted it onto water colour card, coloured with calypso teal Dylusions Ink.

6. I glued my greeting to the background, added some co-ordinating paper flowers & brads, matted it on calypso teal inked card, then attached it to a 7x7 ins card, to finish.

My other half has nabbed this card for his sister's birthday this month! :-)

... the background of my card is made of...

Actually, Jennibellie showed us the technique on her forum, and I had a try (just like I try all weird techniques I view !). You just want to take 4 or 5 kitchen roll used sheets, glue 2 of them together, then another one on top of it and one or 2 again. The glue must completely wet the towels, thus you either want to use your home-made glue (with rice or flour), or add the same volume of water to your glue and mix.
Once dry, here are your sheets, all different and unique :

Now you want to stamp on the sheets :

 And Grungy Greetings #1   on to school book pages I glued on the inside of the card for the sender to write down some sentiment !

Watch these fabulous new stamps !

Hi there, Titbelsoeur today, I am so happy to use these new stamps from Debbie Cotton !

To make this card, I have recycled one I received from charities, again !
The background paper comes from a Canson envelope. I have made my background with ink,  splattered some other ink with a toothbrush, then inked the edges with a watercolor chalk and passed a wet brush to spread the color :

I have played with the 2 Blossom stamps, small and large

and added Lots of Love from the Grungy Greetings #1 set :

Hello happy card-makers !
Are you ready ? 
I receive a lot of thank-you cards from charities. And I don't send a lot of cards. And would I send such cards, my friends would think I don't care a lot about them, otherwise I would send them my own home made cards...
And I hate to waste things...
Hence this tutorial !

I started gessoeing the cards with a rough brush to create structure, I have completed with a small cap on the left card and a credit card on the right one :

I then sprayed the cards with inks and let the ink drip

and wiped the remaining with a kitchen roll

I wanted to have a try on a technique...

 ... but it didn't work as I wanted to... so I spread the paint on the whole of the cards

and sprayed ink again...

 I made circles with white and turquoise-blue acrylics on the circle dots Mask :

and used another mask from my stash to make small dots in white :

Some blue paint on the Dots stamp in the Backgrounds

 and Cobalt archival ink on the Sequin one

 Plum Archival ink on a Chevrons Element, and charcoal pencil around the circles to underline :

Some drops of white here and there, then I coloured the edges with the remaining of my blue melange, applied with an umbrella brush for a random effect :

 Here it is !

Now it lacks of a bit of sentiment, doesn't it ? I stamped these Grungy greetings on to a background :

Tea Time Cards

Hello all!  Alison (butterfly) here with some more flowery cards - yes, cards!  This time rather than blues and greens, we're living in neutrals land with kraft card and tea/coffee stained tags.

I soaked my manila tags in a mixture of tea and coffee, and then did my stamping in Sepia Archival ink.  I stamped a medium tag and a tiny matching one with each stamp, and then inked and spritzed and flicked them.

There wasn't a fixed plan at this point... maybe cards and matching gift tags?

The flowers come from various Katy Leitch sets...

I did like the earthy kraft card bases on my simple watercolour cards a few weeks back, so I decided to go that way again.  And I can never resist book pages, torn and inked, layered into the look.

I used the Tim Holtz Simple Sayings to create my greetings.  I stamped them onto a page from the same book, so that they would match.

They're backed onto more kraft card to make them a little more sturdy,

and mounted on padded tape for a pop of dimension.

Rustic twine through the top of the tags adds extra texture and dimension too.  I added lots of delicate splatter...

...and some stencilling through the Tim Holtz Lattice Layering Stencil.

And in the end, I decided the tiny tags would be quite cool inside the cards...

... so you get an immediate echo when you open the card to read the greeting.

So, some more simple cards for you - this is starting to become a habit!  I hope you like them.
