May Creative Challenge - Textures

Welcome to our challenge for the month of May.
Thank you to everyone who joined in last month's challenge.
We loved them all :)
This month the theme is Textures  and can be interpreted any way you like, as long as it has rubber stamps on it. To join in with this challenge (we are limiting the challenge entries to 3 per person), is simple; all we would like you to do is, make a piece of artwork, making sure that you include the theme and some rubber stamping. Pop back here to link up using the Inklinkz at the bottom of this post, so that we can see what you've made and then, leave us a comment to let us know you have joined in with the challenge.

As always, there will be candy for one randomly picked entrant - the winner will receive a stamp of their choice from The Artistic Stamper .
In addition, you can enter the same challenge on Facebook! There is no prize on there, it's just for fun!
To join us on just go to our new Facebook group, and send us a request to join..
And don't forget....if you use The Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry, you will entered into the draw, twice!

My challenge piece this month is another postcard! I created it using Grungepaste through one of my favourite stencils Small Dots , and added lots of Distress oxide sprays over it. I covered the Grunge paste in PaperArtsy's Black Knight infusions, and spritzed with lots of water to make it run. The flower was created by using Lesley's flower stencil, on textured card, and cutting out the middle of the flower petals, and painting it black. I also added Calligraphy Mat 4 in black Archival ink.

We hope that you will join in this month's challenge, and also join us on Facebook too.
We look forward to seeing your creations. Don't forget to add a comment when you have posted your entry.
Happy Creating

To get you started I have created variations on a theme using postcards as the substrate, and my gel plate. I used a stencil from PaperArtsy's designer, Sara Naumann , plus stencils from The Artistic Stamper  I also used a calligraphic mat stamp to add more, and stickers and our number stencil from my stash for the year. Paint used was Amsterdam Acrylics . Which is your favourite?

Stencilled Gelli Flower by Jane

Eeeeeekkk!!!...I was sooo happy when I found out that this months challenge is all about stencils!!!..I mean, who doesn't love using stencils, they are so versatile, I have trillions...(well..a bit of an exaggeration)..of them, so I combined my Artistic Stamper stencils and masks with my other love...the gelli plate!!!, boy oh boy, you can spend a whole day just throwing things on that fabulous lump of gelatine and always be surprised with the outcome.

As usual, I forgot to take photos of the process of this card, but it started off as a gelli print similar to this one...using the A4 SWIRL MASK

I then brayered several colours of blue paint on the gelli plate, added the DOG ROSE STENCIL, and blotted the paint off from the cutouts so that it left the negative impression when I put the swirl gelli print back on the plate. I then went round the flower shapes with a charcoal pencil to accentuate it, then matted and layered onto a card base, waiting for the appropriate sentiment to add at a later date.
I am so eager to see your creations using stencils, so I hope you will join in this months challenge.

March Creative Challenge - Stencils & Masks

Hi!
Welcome from a snowy Kent, and this is the first day of Spring!  A Big thank you to everyone who joined in last month's challenge. We always appreciate it when you join in , and the entries were fabulous.
March's challenge is Stencils & Masks, and can be interpreted any way you like, as long as it has a stencil or mask in it.

To join us on just go to our new Facebook group, and send us a request to join..  There will be a prize for the Facebook challenge, as well as the blog challenge!
And don't forget....if you use The Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry, you will entered into the draw, twice! To get you started here are creations from some of the team...

Well....I have just had too much fun playing with my stencils, my gelli plate, and my glass paints, to create this card. I started with a gelli plate print using several stencils, then used the HARLEQUIN MASK and the SMALL DOTS MASK on the top layer with gesso and added a bit of doodling with a white posca pen, then added the sentiment.
For the top layer I traced the outline of the flower from the fabulous A4 DOG ROSE STENCIL onto a piece of white paper, then traced it with cerne relief onto a piece of acetate, I then used the pebeo vittrail glass paints to colour in the flower to give a stained glass effect, I attached it to my card by folding the top part of the acetate over the top of the card and attaching it with red tape.

I used the Daffodils stencil from Lesley Matthewson, as my main stencil. Colour the tag with Distress oxides, and use the Small Dots stencil to add texture to the background. I then used the daffodil stencil, coloured it in with yellow shades of Distress Oxides, and added clear modelling paste through it. As it goes on it draws the oxides through it to colour it.  Photographed in the snow just because I could!
We hope that you will join in this month's challenge, and also join us on Facebook too.

We look forward to seeing your creations. Don't forget to add a comment when you have posted your entry.

Have a very creative  month
