Dragon fly girl By Gemma

I love to art journal and I especially love to art journal on different bases, the base of this page is a cereal box and when I have a few done I will bind them together to form a book.

Using gel medium I glued pieces of paper onto the cereal box, these included note paper, small playing cards (from a Christmas cracker) and white printer paper. I covered over the top with a layer of gesso.

I sprayed two or three different Dylusions sprays over the top and continued to add gesso until I was happy with the coverage. Using blue, green and yellow water soluble pastels I edged all the paper pieces and blended them in using water.

I stamped over the top in places with similar coloured Distress Ink and background stamps.

I also sprayed and stamped a book page with the same colours and stamps. the stamps I used were Chicken wirePunk Plaid and Calligraphy Mat 12

After roughly drawing my girl and cutting the dress and some circles from the book page, I decided to add some dragonflies, which I stamped out using Archival Ink.

After painting the face with a layer of gesso, to act as a barrier from the sprays and pastels underneath. I painted the girl in with black, white and flesh tone acrylic paints. I also glued all of my elements down.

I then added more pastel over the top before edging my circles, dragonflies, and girl with a black aqua pencil. I also added features to the girls face with the same pencil, before blending them out with a water brush.

Friends Support Each Other by Lesley Mackenzie

Hi all, Happy New Year . This is my very first blog so wish me luck!

For this months challenge "Anything Goes" so here we go ...

I created a fun tag . The supplies used are; Amsterdam acrylics, Micro beads, The Artistic Stamper stencils and the following Artistic Stamper stamps :-
Birdz Set by Neil Walker
Doodle Bubble Background by Neil Walker
Dog Rose by Lesley Matthewson
Mini Backgrounds #1

Firstly I painted the base background using various shades of greens

The next step was to stencil and stamp the background using hot colours to make the colours pop

I then stamped the bird images onto plain tissues paper using black StazOn ink. This enables a clear image to be created especially when working on uneven  backgrounds. Simply cut out the printed images and attach to the tag using Matt Medium gel.

I coloured the birds using the same palette as the background, then using 3D Gel I added micro beads to the border and grounded the birds. Next I stamped and fussy cut the flower , and to finish added words, and doodles. My final touch was to loop black and pink ribbons to the top of the tag.

Hope this inspires you and the bright and cheerful colours add a bit of sunshine to your day . See you next month, Lesley

Accordion book by Titbelsoeur

Hello happy crafters !
Do you want to make accordion books ? this is quite easy.
As a background, I have used a watercolor painting I made in a former life. The house was quite nice, but the rest of the background was not. I then decided to use it as my tunnel book background.
To make it, I stamped mushrooms and ivy on 3 different cards and cut them out, just preserving 3 edges.

I used another paper to make the accordion and painted watercolor trees on it

The last step is the trickiest one : you have to assemble each card on a fold to make it an accordion book :

Trying something new for the new year

It's my first post of the new year for The Artistic Stamper Creative Team, and I wanted to try something new. So I had a play with air drying clay.

I shaped the skull and upper body from air drying clay. Air drying clay feels very different to normal clay and much closer to paper clay. The biggest difference I found to normal clay was that it was much harder to join pieces together and to make it nice and smooth. It was my first try so with practice I am hoping the joining and smoothing will get easier, as well as my very, very basic sculpting skills. The lower body came from my sofa which unfortunately met with an accident over the Christmas holiday ( I am all for recycling/ upcycling)

While waiting for that to dry, I laid out several strips of masking tape onto one of my glass mats. After painting a coat of PaperArtsys French Roast over the top, I took the Randon Dots stamps and stamped randomly with Eggplant, and white paints. After that dried I decided to go over the top with the same stamp and black Archival ink.

Once the clay was dry, I painted the body and skull with base layers of eggplant, white and black paint.

I then repainted the skull and body with the same colours, before giving the girl some hair and a hat made from air drying clay.

I then painted the hair with PaperArtsy French Roast and the hat with eggplant. I also painted white spots on the hat and top with white paint using the end of a paint brush. I used a black paint pen to make dots on the skull.

Once the masking tape was dry I glued them individually to the base using gel medium, I then stamped on the ribbon with Archival ink and the Random Dot stamp before gluing and wrapping the ribbon around the middle section.

I had fun with this, it's great to try something new. If you haven't ever entered the monthly challenge before, maybe that can be your something new for the new year. This month's theme is anything goes, I have loved looking at the entries so far

Tick Tock Birthday Card by Debs Smith

Happy New Year everyone

I have done a birthday card for you today! Its nice and bright and cheerful to take my mind off the miserable grey weather we have here at the moment!

The background is brayered and to see how i achieved the look read on.  The flowers and the sentiment were stamped on a mop up sheet.

I started with a piece of white card and bartered a small amount of Fresco Finish Mahogany to cover the card

I then applied Terracotta and Tangerine Twist over the top of the Mahogany.  At this point i wasn't quite sure if it was quite the colour i was looking for so i took the Snowflake

and covered the whole thing with white to knock the colour back a tad
I then added Bouganvilla over the top of the white in places and it was starting looking so much brighter
I had used a spare piece of card to mop up the excess paint with some water expecting to put it in my stash for future use.  I have just noticed a red indian in the paint  wish i had seen it before!!

I then stamped tick tock flowers with black Archival onto the mop up sheet and cut them out using two of the large flower and one of the small.
I then added some background stamping to the main piece by using the number stamp from  the Family Values plate and then stamped one of the flourishes from the Swirls and Splats plate these would be under the flower so it didnt matter that they hadn't lined up completely
I added the flower onto the top of the flourish and popped a button from my stash on the top and then stamped Happy Birthday from the Grungy Greetings plate onto another piece of the mop up sheet.

Added this piece to a white card and voila!!

Thanks for popping over and i am looking forward to seeing all of your entries this year!
Happy creating
