Christmas Card by Debs

Here is a Christmas Card I made using a Gelli print, Jewelled Snowflake and Ornaments stamp plate and the Christmas Greeting #1 plate.

First I stamped and embossed the lightbulb onto plain white card and then stamped and embossed a large snowflake using Versamark Ink and Wow Silver Embossing Powder 

Then I stamped and embossed the banner from the Borders #1 plate and the Swirl Background Open stamp.

I then cut all three elements out.

I found some silver twine and made some bows and stuck these to the lightbulbs.

I made a Gelli print using Brushed Pewter Distress Paint with a little bit of Broken China and did three or four pulls from the Gelli Plate.  Once they were dry I stamped the same large snowflake with White Linen Dylusions paint over the whole of one of the sheets in a random manner, ensuring that the snowflakes weren't too dominant i wanted a subtle effect so that the one in the lightbulb would stand out.

Apologies for the lack of photos at this point - Brain was obviously not in gear 

I cut the card down to a DL size and also trimmed the gelli print and then mounted it onto a piece of card, distressed the edges and mounted onto the card with 3D tape, adding the banner before sticking down.

I Added one lightbulb directly to the paper and the other one with 3D tape overlapping slightly.

Pods & Butterflies

Hi everyone I hope you are well and enjoying crafting.

I have been having a play with some new idea's

this is a result.

Firstly I inked up the Neil Walker Stamp with versamark ink and stamped 

it onto black card  & clear embossed it. I used Deco art

 antiquing cream over the embossed image (you can use fresco finish).

 I took a baby wipe and removed most of it, during the 

process it coloured the margins so that they

 look chalked.

Next I mixed Fresco finish paint on a craft mat and swooshed 

it about then placed the fantasy plate stamp into the 

paint and stamped it onto black card.

I then covered in clear embossing powder and heat set.

I had a die cut clock frame that I rusted up and a large die cut cog that 

I also rusted up. I stamped the small clock off the tick tock plate

onto craft card.

I cut out three of the plumes from the fresco finish embossed image 

and them arranged it amongst the cogs and clock.

I cut out other pieces from the image and  offset them against

the main image.

I stamped the butterfly twice once in gold and then in 

pale blue and gold.

Finally I added gold sequins to the top and bottom.

Backed it all onto craft card and distressed the edge's which I coloured 

with ink. I hope you all enjoyed my post and don't forget to

Neil Walker's Trio Of Hearts

Hi everyone to continue with our challenge this month LOVE! I have done a 

trio of hearts for you, using the fabulous Artistic Stampers 

Neil Walker Stamps.

Firstly I used Brusho on wet white card I sprayed it with a

mini mister of water.

I sprinkled Prussian Blue, Sandstone & Crimson.

If you haven't used these before have a play first as you don't 

need much. I followed with a little of gold mica powder 

mixed with water in the mister bottle.

I used the same embossing technique that I used in my last 

post of triple embossing powder.

I followed with stream and denim alcohol inks.

Finally I stamped the Neil walker alphabet soup stamp in walnut stamp

I gold embossed it and ran the versa fine ink pad around the 

edges and dragged it through the gold embossing powder.

Walnut stain was blended round the sides.

Brass sequins to finish.

3. Gold embossing powder.

4. Versamark.

Dragonfly Card

Hello to you all Wishing all of you a very Happy New year!

I hope you all had a very good Christmas and are 

looking forward to a very crafty 2015.

I was very lucky my son's bought me the distress stains for Christmas 

and this is my first play with them.

For my first post of 2015 I have created a card made from the Artistic Stamper's

 fabulous Neil Walker stamps and the dragonfly from the insects &

butterfly plate and lots of lovely embossing.

1. Distress inks in the following colours:- iced spruce, vintage photo, wild honey, fired brick & walnut stain.
2. Distress stains spray in the following colours:- wild honey, fired brick, iced spruce & tarnished brass.
3. The following Artistic Stamper Stamps:- Neil Walkers alphabet soup & boarder set + the dragonfly off the insects and butterflies. 
4. Gold & clear embossing powder. 
5. Small coloured beads and home made beads for the centre body please see my blog.
6. Ranger distress stickles in the following colours:- aqua & copper.
7. Versamark.
8. Deco art liquid glass.
9. Gold ink pad.
10. Viva Ferro, ledger stencil.

Firstly I coloured a piece of white card with distress inks blending off a craft mat.

I used wild honey, vintage photo, iced spruce and fired brick.

I sprayed water onto my fingers the flicked it across the card and mopped up with tissue

& repeated it until I was happy with the result. I then used my distress stained iced spruce 

and lightly spritzed it. I inked the Neil walker alphabet soup stamp in gold

and stamped the bottom and top right.

You can just see it faintly, next I inked up the boarder stamp with

Walnut stain distress ink and gently put gold embossing

 powder so it didn't cover the entire stamped image,

then heat set.

I cut out a square and from the piece of coloured card I then cut 

another piece off and a third and arranged it 

out on the original cut square.

I then inked up the boarder stamp with walnut stain. Without 

putting it on a block I just placed the stamp where I wanted it

 on the third piece and then covered it in clear embossing 

powder and heat set. Ferro paste was put through the date 

on the ledger stencil on the bottom left hand side.

The edges were run along the versa mark ink pad then swiped 

through gold embossing powder to finish the square off. 

For the dragonfly I inked it up with walnut stain stamped it 

onto distress coloured card which was clear embossed.

I sprayed the wings with tarnished gold, wild honey 

and fired brick spray stains. Decoart liquid glass was 

applied to the wings and allowed to dry.

The main body of the dragon fly is made up with a bead I made 

please see my blog. The head is again beads made up 

from sequins and from my stash also copper stickles. small seed beads

were glued around and then I a dot of aqua stickles to finish.

Wire and a bead were used for the antennae. Finally mounted onto 

black card and attached onto a white card. Well that's it for today

A Doodly Twosome

Hello all!  Alison (butterfly) here again, this time with a pair of tags which are not quite in my usual vein - though they are in some of my favourite colours!

I used the new Alphabet Soup by Neil Walker as my starting point.  I clear embossed the background onto a tag.

Then I sprayed lots of lovely Dylusions colour onto it, and dried it with a heat tool.  I love the squiggly doodly lettering.

The next step was to cut Umbrella Man with the Sizzix die (did I dream it, or did I read that he's been discontinued?  In any case, he's still available here at Artistic Stamper for now).

I hadn't really planned on making two tags, but as soon as I'd cut him, I realised I had the makings of a 'positive' and a 'negative' version.

For the backgrounds, I just blended on various Distress Ink colours from grass to sky and gave both tags a good old spritz and flick with some water.

The words are all from the fabulous Journalling Words #5 set.  I stamped them onto another inky tag I had lying around on the desk, in a combination of Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers, and clear embossed the result.

I cut them and inked the edges and mounted them on padded tape for a little pop of dimension.

I altered a couple of Muse Tokens with Distress Paint, then sanded back to the metal underneath.

As soon as I saw the silvery detailing, I wanted to echo it on the rest of the tags.

So I used some silver gilding wax to edge the words and the tags themselves.

I ended up adding quite a lot of silvery sheen to the embossed Alphabet Soup too because I really liked the look of it.

A couple of twirls of metal wire finish off the tags at the top.  It's just some more of the rescued wires from some spiral bound notebooks that were being thrown away... 'waste not, want not', as they say!

And that's pretty much that... I hope you like my doodly tags.

Dappled and Drowsy

Hello all, Alison (butterfly) here from Words and Pictures, with another musically-inspired tag for you today.

Simon & Garfunkel fans may have already clocked the post title, and be humming along.  It's the 59th Bridge Street Song: "I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep"... those were the words running through my head as I was playing with this one, with light and shade playing across the leaves.

I started from what was basically a mop-up tag.  There's definitely paint involved, and some Dylusions sprays.  It also has some texture from being pressed against another tag while all the paint and ink was wet on the surface.

Over that, I started clear-embossing some of Katy Leitch's lovely Leaves, stamped in Versamark and heat-embossed with some Clear Detail powder.

That glossiness captures the sunlight and makes it twinkle and reflect at you as you move the tag around.

I also stamped some of the smaller leaves in Olive and Leaf Green Archival inks, building up the layers... like lying beneath a tree and looking up through the layers of branches above you.

By this point, the song was in full flow (well, at least those couple of lines going round and round incessantly!)...

... so there was no difficulty in choosing the words to go on the tag.

The torn edges give a lovely textured surface for inking.

For the background layer, I added some ink and stains to a piece of watercolour paper, and stamped some more of the leaves in Archival ink of various colours.

And the torn edges again absorb the ink really well, so you get a lovely intense colour around the border.

A little bit of Distress Stain-dyed seam binding and some curly white twine keep things simple at the top.

And I did lots of splattering - most of it Dylusions, as far as I remember (taking the top out and splattering using the end of the spray attachment).

I was just having fun dappling and splattering by this point, so I wasn't really paying much attention!
