Gessoing with Alcohol Inks-Technique by Jennie

Hello, and welcome to another one of my technique based posts for The Creative Team.As you may have gathered , I am truly hooked on using Gesso on everything I make at he moment ( check out our new challenge next month too!!) , and when I came across this video using Gesso AND Alcohol inks, I just had to show you!

I used one of Tim's new Embossing folders , and layered sticky back foil onto some card and ran it through my Vagabond.

I painted the metal side with white gesso, just thickly enough to cover the metal colour, and let it dry.

Then taking 3 or 4 or even 5 colours of alcohol inks,  drip them gently onto the embossed gessoed card, and move them around with a cocktail stick, or similar until you get the desired effect. Remember alcohol inks dry quickly, so you need to work quite fast.

Once you have achieved your desired effect, dry with a heat tool. You can leave it like this or add some Archival ink on top to add depth. You can then sand it back a little if you like, and add more ink on top too.

I liked this technique as the Gesso will make the inks matte and not translucent if they were just on the metal alone(if that makes sense?)
