Butterfly Splatter Card by Gemma

I have another butterfly card to share with you today, I am really enjoying creating fairly simple cards with not a lot of fussiness at the moment.

This card was a larger square card to start with but it had a little accident and had to be redesigned.
I started by putting small amounts of Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet, Spiced Marmalade, Distress Oxides onto a non-stick mat and mixed them with water, then using different sized small brushed I splattered the ink over a piece of cardstock.

I then stamped three butterflies diagonally across the piece of card, one of these was later cut off. I also edged the card with yellow ink.

Once everything was dry I stamped along some areas of the sides with the plaid background stamp and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide, before stamping the words with love in archival ink.

To alter the card after it's little mishap I cut off the ruined area, applied more yellow ink to the edges and stamped, colored and cut out a new butterfly for the card front.

Here is the how-to : just ink your mat with your Distress ink pads, spray water and press your paper on it. Then ink some mini background stamps with the same inks, stamp it  here and there, and then stamp this awesome door with black archival ink.

And here is your beautiful card with little colour !

Butterfly Flutterby Card by Gemma

I have a 8x8 thank you card to share with you all today. A little bit of inspiration for this months challenge 'A little bit of colour', I have used a limited colour pallet and embraced my white space (a little). There is still time to join in the challenge this month for your chance to win.

I cut a piece of card to fit my card blank and stamped one of the wonderful butterflies from the butterflies stamp plate in the upper right corner using a Candied Apple Distress Oxide pad. I then sprayed the ink with water and stood the card up so the ink would drip down the card.

After drying the ink, I stamped randomly over the whole card with the same stamp and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide. After spraying the ink with water and allowing it to drip, I dabbed away some of the ink as I wanted these butterflies to be incomplete and the fade into the background. After drying I deciced to add very small amounts of yellow ink in places.

Using bits of scrap card my mask areas off I stamped the plaid background stamp using Vintage Photo Distress Oxide over the top.

Once all my ink was dry I added some washi take and stamped the words thank you. I painted the letters with a white paint pen, which I outlined with a black pen. Then it was time to doodle on and around the butterfly with black and white pens.

A very wonderful place by Angie Coomber

For this month's project I decided to alter a piece of driftwood.

First off I painted some of the driftwood with white gesso to give me a base, but as I wanted the finished object to look slightly distressed I left some areas of the wood showing.

Next I adhered various found objects (broken jewellery, wooden decorations, beads, paper and fabric flowers) with a heavy glue medium and once set painted everything with whit gesso.

I then had a play with some green and gold paints until I had the result that I was looking for.

I added some turquoise beads and gold wax to enhance the paint effect.

I stamped a window from the Artistic Stamper Architecture set onto some card and coloured it in with watercolours.

Once dry, I glued the image to the piece of driftwood, added a quote sticker and a hanger made from rusty wire.
