Time Travellers by Wendy Waldorf

I was happy to be invited to create a sample project for The Artistic Stamper for the month of October. The challenge topic this month is "TRAVEL".

I like to imagine that these steampunk creatures would make perfect time travelers. The designs were stamped with black ink onto the smooth side of watercolor paper. I used metallic watercolor paints to paint the images and then fussy cut around them when they were dry. They were then attached to painted spring style clothespins. A yarn scrap and steampunk gears were added as embellishments. The clothespins are clipped to a piece of watercolor paper that was painted with a gelli plate. The edges of the word Journey were distressed with watercolor crayons.

Stamps Used:

TickTock Butterflies

A Concertina Memory book by Angela Radford

A Concertina Memory book.

Five Kraft style envelopes joined together.
I created two different Masterboards and cut to size then edged the pieces ready to layer up.
Stamped, fussy cut and heat embossed the images.
I added glitter glue in places and added journaling pages to the back.

Masterboard 1.

The front of the book shows the beautiful stamps which I coloured and fussy cut before attaching.
The main pages were made by simply smooshing ink onto card.
The pockets and layering pieces were the first Masterboard, smooshing ink onto the card and then rolling up the lace stamp (this prevents any lines appearing when stamping) and dabbing it in places around the card.
The next stage was to stamp and heat emboss the button stamps for added interest.
Continue to pick up more colour from your craft sheet and more stamping with the lace stamp until you're happy with the finish then buff over the design to bring out the detail of the embossed buttons.

Masterboard 2.

I used a ghosting technique for this Masterboard by stamping and heat embossing the sewing machine stamp around the card and then adding colour with a blending tool.
Continue to add more colour and more heat embossed stamping and when completed iron off the heat embossing and the layers of colour will come to life.
At this stage I prepared the envelopes by joining them together and layered everything up to create the concertina book.
I've added old lace, ribbon, tags, Glitter glue, glazes and threads for added interest.
Hope you enjoyed watchoing me make this littlebook, and I look forward to seeing all your ideas for the challenge.
Happy Creating

My challenge piece this month is another postcard! I created it using Grungepaste through one of my favourite stencils Small Dots , and added lots of Distress oxide sprays over it. I covered the Grunge paste in PaperArtsy's Black Knight infusions, and spritzed with lots of water to make it run. The flower was created by using Lesley's flower stencil, on textured card, and cutting out the middle of the flower petals, and painting it black. I also added Calligraphy Mat 4 in black Archival ink.

We hope that you will join in this month's challenge, and also join us on Facebook too.
We look forward to seeing your creations. Don't forget to add a comment when you have posted your entry.
Happy Creating

To get you started I have created variations on a theme using postcards as the substrate, and my gel plate. I used a stencil from PaperArtsy's designer, Sara Naumann , plus stencils from The Artistic Stamper  I also used a calligraphic mat stamp to add more, and stickers and our number stencil from my stash for the year. Paint used was Amsterdam Acrylics . Which is your favourite?

Christmas Cards by Angie Coomber

Christmas Cards

Hello fellow crafters!

Are you busy making Christmas cards or are you super-organized and already had them finished in August?

I can't resist these cute Mini Houses when it comes to Christmas and they are simply stamped and coloured in with whichever pencils you have to hand.

For the background I painted a very light, pastel layer of watercolours on watercolour paper, followed by a rough covering of various shades of blue watercolour, leaving some pastel patches showing to create a kind of "galaxy" effect. I also painted some of the blue on a spare bit of paper. I then added some white splatter for the "stars".

I cut some wavy pieces of the blue painted card and arranged it on the background to create a scenery together with some of the houses.

To finish, I added some glitter and some rub-on Christmas quotes, matted and glued to white cards.

Have a lovely December everyone!

Hugs from Angie x
