Tiles by Angie Coomber

Hello everyone!

I was looking through my stencils for this month's challenge and came across this lovely pattern stencil by Lesley Matthewson which reminded me of the gorgeous floor tiles you see in medieval palaces and churches.

First of all I used texture paste and the stencil to create the pattern on the back of a piece of cereal box.

Once the texture paste had dried I covered everything in white gesso.

Next I used acrylic paints (shades of red/dark pink as well as yellow and a tiny bit of pale blue) to paint a background.

I added some stamping,

and then applied glue through the stencil onto the raised area, followed by gold foil. I also added a little bit of white splatter.

I cut out the whole design and split it into quarters, then embossed the edges of each quarter with white embossing powder.
I adhered the 4 quarters to a white piece of card and added some wire so it can be hung on the wall.

Hope you like it!x
