Marine art journal page by Titbelsoeur

Hello all,
I love to art journal. I have made this page to make a "distress inking with a cache" tutorial for my friends I was playing with this year in the retirement house.
I had just to open some slits to add the boats I had painted with watercolours and then make a marine storm page with the new stamps I have had the pleasure to design for The Artistic Stamper.
My dedicated folder is here : Tit Belsoeur Stamps

I hope you like my page as much as I loved to make it,
and gives you inspiration to participate in our

Thank you so much for stopping by.

"Shine brightly" by Angie Coomber

Hello everyone! It's been very hot in the South-East of England this summer and my cabin is a lovely cool, shady place, so I have been spending a lot of my spare time hiding in there messing about with paints. I've been trying out new techniques and I'm into these flower pages at the moment.

I started by scribbling random colours (in this case Distress Crayons) on a journal page and then blending them with a water brush.

I added scraps of book pages and some stickers that I made a while ago.

Next I drew a simple flower with a black Stabilo pencil.

I coloured the petals and leaves with Distress Crayons, then went over with the water brush. You automatically get some lovely shading from the Stabilo this way.

I painted some black and white patches with my fingers, using acrylic paints.

Next I used some background stamps, both on the actual background as well as the petals.

Lastly I added some gold paint splatter, white doodling and a quote sticker.
I really hope you like it!

Until next time!

Butterfly Journal Page by Gemma Hynes

I have a journal page to share with you all today using some of Jennie's great circle stamps.

STEPS

I started by applying Gesso to my glass mat and pressing some scraps of Hessian into it for texture. I then placed a page from my 7 Gypsies mix and match book over the Gesso rubbing over the back of the page to transfer the Gesson to the page.

I then build up the background using PaperArsty paints and circle stamps. I varied the sizes of the circles and kept the colours cool in tone.

On a sheet of card, I stamped out a few butterflies in black Archival ink. I painted them with High Impact paints which I spritzed with water so the colours would blend easier.

I then cut the butterflies out and glued them to the page with mat gel, before finishing the page of with some text.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star By Gemma

I am loving all Jennies star themed stanps at the moment and am having so much fun playing with them, I just had to have a messy play in my journal, it really was a must do :-)

Steps

1- Using Gesso as a glue apply a sheet of crumpled up tissue paper to a journal page.
2- Using gel medium attach some torn book page paper, I really liked the little girl I found on the corner of a page and I just had to keep her.

3- Spread some Distress Inks onto a glass mat and spritzs with water, press the page into the ink allowing the colours to pool into each other and mix. Keeping some white space dry between layers untill happy.

4- Using a long detailed stamp, stamp along one of the top corners and the opposite bottom corner.

5- Add some random stamping with a background stamp and one of the Distress Inks used for the first layer.

6- Spread some ink onto your glass mat and mix with texture paste, apply this to the page through a mask.

7- Doodle over some of the stamping and around the edge of the page.

Rapunzel Journal page by Gemma

A couple of days off December, which is a super busy month for me as I am sure it is for lots of you, I am so behind. I wanted to take some time to play in my art journal, so I have a page to share with you all today inspired by this window stamp from The Artistic Stamper that always reminds me of Rapunzel, so I added a quote from the story 'That beautiful bird is no longer sitting in her nest, nor is she singing anymore'

After laying Gesso down I sprayed some purple sprays I had left over from a different project, while they were wet I sponged areas for texture. Once that was dry I made some marks with a black paint pen.

Then I randomly stamped over the top with a calligraphy mat. On a separate sheet of card, I stamped the window and heat embossed it with black embossing powder.

I made a pencil mark so I knew where I wanted the window to be, and then masked round the section I wanted to use on Jennies flourish stencil.  Once I had the stencil in position I applied I mixture of green paint and texture paste.

While waiting for that to dry I stamped several flowers and a butterfly onto card. After colouring them in with pencils and distress ink I cut them out and glued them into place.

Thank you for popping by

Steampunk art journal page by Titbelsoeur

Hi there,

The background of the art journal page I want to share with you today was inspired by Maremi, a Polish artist.

Once the background done, I have stamped the Gears Background and Watches background on the edges with 2 different inks, black and white.

Then I have stamped 4 steampunk images on to white drawing paper, and I have decided to keep these images black & white to bring them out :

Winged Wheel
Girl with clock

Mini Art Journal by Gemma

For my post today I have a mini art journal to share with you all.

To start I stamped out some images I thought I might like to you and heat embossed them with black embossing powder.

Then I cut two pieces of board down to size and coated them with black gesso before layering up different rust pastes.

I then glued the stamped images I wanted to use on the cover adding more rust paste where I wanted it.

I cut some mixed media cardstock to size for my signatures and attached the book together with duct tape. To make a simple art journal that can easily be carried about without being too heavy or taking up to much space in my bag.

Journal Bookmark by Gemma

Today I have a bookmark I made for my art journal, I will be doodling away, stop for some reason and then spend an age looking for the page I am working on. The bookmark is almost the full length of my largest journal so if I remember to use it, I should spend less time looking for a page and more time playing.

I marked the length and shape of the bookmark using the wavy edge of an acrylic block. The base of the bookmark is the side of a cereal box. Once cut out, cover in a layer of tissue paper and gesso.

Blend red, orange and purple acrylics over the top, and dry completely.

Spread some white acrylic paint over a craft mat, press your stamp into the paint and then stamp onto the card. This should give you a nice uneven image with lots of texture.

Spread some pink and yellow paint on your mat, I mixed both of my colours with white so they were a little more opaque and stood out against the background. Then stamp the two largest circles from the set over the top.

To finish I punched several holes in the top of the bookmark and threaded different ribbons through them and plaited them together.

Dragon fly girl By Gemma

I love to art journal and I especially love to art journal on different bases, the base of this page is a cereal box and when I have a few done I will bind them together to form a book.

Using gel medium I glued pieces of paper onto the cereal box, these included note paper, small playing cards (from a Christmas cracker) and white printer paper. I covered over the top with a layer of gesso.

I sprayed two or three different Dylusions sprays over the top and continued to add gesso until I was happy with the coverage. Using blue, green and yellow water soluble pastels I edged all the paper pieces and blended them in using water.

I stamped over the top in places with similar coloured Distress Ink and background stamps.

I also sprayed and stamped a book page with the same colours and stamps. the stamps I used were Chicken wirePunk Plaid and Calligraphy Mat 12

After roughly drawing my girl and cutting the dress and some circles from the book page, I decided to add some dragonflies, which I stamped out using Archival Ink.

After painting the face with a layer of gesso, to act as a barrier from the sprays and pastels underneath. I painted the girl in with black, white and flesh tone acrylic paints. I also glued all of my elements down.

I then added more pastel over the top before edging my circles, dragonflies, and girl with a black aqua pencil. I also added features to the girls face with the same pencil, before blending them out with a water brush.
