Heart Tags by Gemma

I have a set of tags to share with you all today, decorated with circles, hearts, and doodles.

STEPS

I started off by applying Distress Inks and Oxides to some pre-made small tags.

I stamped over the tag with a script stamp and a small squiggly stamp for texture.

I stamped over the top with different sized circles and swirls. I made sure to overlap the circles and to stamp some of the images off the side of the tags.

I then stamped and coloured a few hearts with Distress Ink, before gluing them to the tags and adding extra interest with black and white pens.

Light Bulb Journal Page by Gemma

Hi All

I love, love ,love the new limited set of PaperArtsy paints, The colours are Captain Peacock, Professor Plum, Granny Smith and Teresa Green. It doesn't hurt that the names are just awesome.

For this page I used Captain Peacock and Professor Plum. I also some basic Buff Titan acrylic, with the three colours I just covered the pages, there was no method I just did not want to see white any more, once it was dry you could really see the brush marks in the paint, which was great. Using both the Captain Peacock and the Professor Plum I stamped over the top with both the dots and large random dots backgrounds. The paint underneath was still slightly wet, which moved and came up in places revealing the titan buff underneath.

Over this I made the black and white circles using Dylusion Paints and two different sized lids that I keep with the paints just to do this. I stamped out the light bulb on to a scrap bit of paper to use as a mask through which I painted Titan buff and then stamped the dancing girl and the word dance with black archival ink from the dance plate. I also stamped some more dots.

To finish I stamped the light bulb three time onto acetate, with black ink, cut them out and glued them on top of the painted ones, using a black paint pen I drew around them and also drew lines to the top of the page.

Steampunk in October... by Joanna King

Hello! My name is Joanna (aka Asia King) from Under a Creative Spell and I am super excited to play this month with the Artistic Stamper Creative Team!

My first guest design project was inspired by Kate Crane’s monthly calendar challenge. I must admit, I haven’t been very disciplined to keep up with all the months but after seeing this amazing range of stamps, my hands were immediately itching to start crafting!

For my calendar pages I used water colour paper, which I first painted with gesso. Then all the fun began! Using purple, orange and white acrylic paints I painted the pages, smearing and overlapping the colours as I went.

Then to start building layers I randomly sponged the paints through a mask with a collage of numbers. When the paint was dry, I stamped layers of images from Large Dotty Closed Background and Punk Plaid Background and added some paint accents through sequin waste.
Using an embossing ink I stamped the 'bubbles' from the Borders A5 #2 plate and heat embossed them with Stampendous Aged Wine embossing enamel. Then, with white, black and gold paints I stamped a number of circles with plastic bottle tops and I added a few black lines with Ranger's craft scraper.
To 'frame' my page I used the tiny dots and gears from the Borders A5 #2 plate which were stamped with Pumpkin and Jet Black StazOn inks.
My calendar days were punched from scraps of patterned paper and the edges were distressed with  Spiced Marmalade and Dusty Concord distress inks. The Steampunk butterflies and the snail are from the Tick Tock Butterflies set, which I stamped onto patterned paper and coloured in with the distress inks.

To finish the page I added some black rub ons. I hope you've enjoyed reading about this project and I look really look forward to sharing my next project with you!

TTFN!

Retro notebook. By Zuzu.

Last week, I was inspired by this months challenge them of "circles", and had a wee go at making some circle tags. They turned out better than I expected and I rather loved them. I even put them on my blog.(here they are in case you missed them)...

Inspired by this retro look, I wanted to make something a bit more permanent or useful that i could keep, (as once I use the tags as gift tags, they are gone,)  so I altered the front of one of the little notebooks.

I used an outdoor sealer over it all so it would stand up to going out and about in my bag, as, with this weather we have been having, nothing stays dry for long.

For the largest circles, I cut out some paper circles and used them as a mask when adding all the layers of stamps, paint and ink, to my notebook. when i was done with the other layers, I painted my large circles with white paint. let it dry then did a little 'over stamping'.
as a finishing touch, I added some "chit chat" stickers.
