Bright card by Gemma

 Hello Everyone

A quick, bright, fun card from me today. using a gelli plate background, and Lesley's floral stamp plate.

I covered my gelli plate with pink acrylic paint and placed a piece of card over the top that I had already cut to 18 cm square. That was my first of three layers, the second layer was orange paint and the petal mask. Finally I added some circles from large dot mask with white paint and around the edges.

Using black archival ink I stamped a few of both the large and the small open flowers, from Lesley's flower plate. I blocked the flowers in with gesso, so I could paint on top without the background colours showing through.

I painted the flowers blue so it gave quite a contrast to the background, I used the same blue acrylic to paint them just adding white to some to change the tone. I added the word create from the words mask

Using a black paint pen, I went around my stamped images and the word create, I also added some stems and leave to the smaller flowers and a boarder of dashes around the edge.

Two Mini Canvas by Shilpa

Hello Everyone,
Shilpa here,

Today, I've two mini mixed media canvas to share with you. For that I've used Neil Walker designed lovely bird stamps.

I've worked on 4" square canvas. I couldn't take photos while making this...
here are the steps I followed for both.

1. Adhere text and music paper with gel medium on the canvas.
2. Apply thin coat of white gesso with palette knife.
3. Apply one color of acrylic paint, spread it with fingers. Dry it
4.Stamp with different types of texture and text  stamps and archival inks.
5.Apply second color of acrylic paint spread it. Dry this layer.
6. Again stamp with different texture stamps (Artistic stamper has fabulous collection of texture stamps..check them here )
7. On another watercolor paper stamp the birds, color them with watercolors, fussy cut them.
8. On canvas, stamp the birds again with black archival ink and attach the fussy cut birds on it.
9.Lastly apply embossing paste through stencil  randomly on the canvas.

Hope you followed my mixed media procedure for this canvas, if you have any questions, pls let me know

here are individual canvas photos

Life is like a circle by Debs

Hi Everyone

Here is a quick journal page I have done using the new Tim Holtz Distress Crayons

I started off with a layer of Gesso, waited (somewhat impatiently) for it to dry.

Then added the Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry crayons scribbling them on and then blending them in with my finger

Once I had done that, I added some stamping using the Dots background stamp

I added one of the new flourish stamps around the edges and the Neil Walker Alphabet Soup Background and Border  Stamped the large rose and the small daisy from the Botanical A5 plate onto tissue paper and Life is a circle from the Journaling Words 3

once all the extra bits were stuck into place I added some white outlining with a white sharpie pen.

Do leave a comment and don't forget you still have a few days left to get those entries in on here and on the Facebook challenge page

Kiki By Dee

Hi everyone I hope you are all well and being very crafty.
I have a variant on KiKi for you this month
I hope you all like it.
I started by using distress ink off my craft matt then splashed
water droplets over it.
Once happy with the results I then took the Neil Walker
Alphabet soup stamp and stamped it randomly
over the card and clear embossed it.
Nect I used the splats mask and used black modelling paste
through the circle images and dried.
I then took a white gel pen and drew a circle in the middle
and a squiggle I repeated with black pen.
Next I brushed with gold Gulding wax.
I coloured a piece of lint with black paint and placed to the side.
I stamped Kiki onto white card and coloured in.
Next I cust her face out and the upper part of
her cloak.
I used some gold ink to scribble on and three gold brads
finished it off.
Well I hope you all like my Kiki please feel free to let
me know what you think.

Happy Easter ! by Titbelsoeur

Hello everybody, this is Titbelsoeur today offering the drinks !
This year for Easter we could make things a little fun and special and make Easter dinner more like a mini-party. These Easter Fish straws will be fun for the kids (and adults) to enjoy. They are super easy to make. Here's how :

Stamp the fish (from the Seaside #1 stampstet) twice for one straw and draw a line with 2 different gelatos on each :

Then dilute the gelatos with a wet brush :

Cut the fishes out and use double-sided tape to stick them back to back with  the straw in between :

And here they are ! isn't it easy-peasy ?

Flower card by Gemma

 Hello Everyone

Its great to see so many of you joining in with this months challenge, and there is still plenty of time to get involved. Don't forget that you can now join in on our facebook challenge page here.

I made a card for this post as I have a few birthdays coming up, and I keep getting in trouble for sending shop bought ones (I can hear the gasps of shock, from certain people as I am typing).

I cut a piece of red card and kraft card to 18 x 18 cm square. On the Kraft card I drew a 1.5 cm frame around the edge and two wavy lines across, roughly the same width. I then cut away the middle sections with a craft knife.

Using the sections I cut on the kraft card as a guide I drew faint lines on the red piece, to mark where I wanted to stamp. I used the solid floral background in two sections and the open floral background in the centre section.  I heat embossed the stamping with white embossing powder.

I then stamped on to the kraft card using distress ink and the random dots background. I then went around all the edges of the card and glued it in place over the red piece.

Before I attached this to the card blank I taped red and brown ribbon to the back, and once glued to the blank I tied each into a bow at the front of the card.

On left over scraps of card I stamped the large flowers from the open floral background stamp and heat embossed them with more of the white embossing powder, before cutting them out.

I arranged them around the bows I had made, and glued them in place, adding some ring tabs from drink cans for some added interest.

Artists are like Roses card by Debs

Hi All

Springtime makes me think of warmer days and flowers and with that thought here is my latest project

I started off with a piece of kraft glassine, Dylusions paints in Postbox red, Lemon Zest, and Squeezed Orange and a brayer

I put a dob (technical term) of postbox red and adding this to the  paper with the brayer

I covered the whole piece with red using the brayer

Then added on the orange

and then the yellow
The nice thing about Dylusions other than their consistency is the fact that they are transparent paint and so will always pick up the colour underneath and using this technique gives a lovely effect

Once the paint was dry I then used some Fresh Lime and one of the new flourishes from The Flourish Ornate plate and stamped over the background in a couple of places

Then added some of the new flowers from the Open Floral Background in postbox red using a piece of foam to ink up the stamp

And again with some of the Lemon Zest and some of the other new stamps from both the Solid Floral Background and the Open Floral Background

Next step was to take a piece of A4 White card and cut at an angle across the card and score in three equal pieces

Cut the painted Kraft Glassine to fit each panel

I painted another piece of Glassine with the Postbox Red and then stamped the small rose from the
Botanical Plate 3 and then cut them out

And added them to the card along with the sentiment also from the same plate.

This challenge has obviously sparked those creative juices as we have loads of lovely entries already so do keep them coming and don't forget the Facebook page as well.

Happy crafting Debs

Playing with dylusions by Dee

Hi folks I popped down to see Jennie and have a play at The Artistic Stamper
when I had a week off work in January. We did a class on
journaling not something that I am used to but seem
to have started doing this year.
The Artistic stamper has a load of amazing journaling stamps
so I thought I would do a piece playing with the stamps that
I picked up while I was there.
I also picked up some Dylusion paints while I was there
which have a finish that I really like and are very neon
bright, again not colours I would usually use.
So I did three panels using a different colours but one
colour that was common to all three.
Fresh Lime and vibrant turquoise
I stamped different journalling word stamps onto each
panel.
Purple pink and turquoise
Journal word inspiration
collated it all onto a black journal page ooh a white pen and
 doodled around the edge.
That's it for today I hope you like my play.
Please let me know what you think.
