Memories - Journal Page

Couple of days back I shared with you my new journal and how I created it's vintage cover. If you have not seen it, here is the link- Layered Journal cover

And today, I created my first journal page in it. This is inspirational project as we have 'Memories' theme for this month's challenge.

I have used 'Faces' stamps from Artistic Stamper. They have vintage look and perfect for memories journal page.

I had fun playing with layers and texture. I started my first layer with book pages. And next layers were - washi tapes, design paper strips, canvas strips, lace. After this, I applied white crackle texture paste through Tim Holtz Star stencil.

I applied gesso at some places and when it dried I stamped with texture stamps and Ranger black Archival Ink. Next, I spritzed inks in various red, golden and brown colors, I dried them between each layer.

I created same texture on both sides of page.

Middle part of the page has various paper layers which I created with stamping, distressing, coloring.

Alison's Seaside Giveaway - Part One

Hello Stampers! As you probably know, it's the 2nd Anniversary of The Artistic Stamper's Creative Team Blog, and to mark the occasion, we have lots of giveaways this month.

Each member of the team has chosen some stamps to work with in August, and those are the stamps you could win, just by leaving a comment on our post, or on our personal blog posts. You can see my blog post HERE.

It started off life as an Altoid Mint tin!

To begin, I separated the lid and base, and gave them both a good two coats of Studio Black Gesso, inside and out.

I stamped the swimmer from Seaside No. 1 plate onto a Stampbord domino using Archival Black Ink, and coloured her in with Distress Inks, and a waterbrush. I used Peacock Feathers and Brushed Corduroy. I used clear UTEE to double emboss the image, & whilst the UTEE was still molten, I sprinkled some Macarena Beadazzles in the bottom left corner.

Returning to the tin lid, I used a palette knife to apply a thick layer of Viva Ferro on the top. I squished the stampbord piece into it, then set it aside to dry thoroughly.

Once dry, I applied some silver Viva Gold all over the outside of the tin to accentuate the texture. I used Glossy Accents to glue pearl beads around the image.

I made a little starfish, using gold friendly plastic in a mould, then applied some blue Viva Gold onto the texture. I used a glue gun to stick the starfish to my tin.

Altered Canvas by Astrid

Hi everyone, Astrid here with another project. I decided to alter a little canvas and set myself the challenge for once not to use any brown. I tell you this was hard, as brown is my favourite colour in crafting and I use it on all of my projects usually....

These are the products I used:

OTHER PRODUCTS: Gesso; Multi Medium Matte; Black Archival Ink, Distress Inks Shabby Shutters, Broken China, Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Pine Needle

From my stash I used a small canvas, old book pages, mica sprays, white tissue paper, punchinella, , a small piece of chipboard, a swirl die-cut, some mini roses, gold acrylic paint,string and pearls.
I started by covering my canvas with some old bookpages, gluing them on with Claudine Hellmuth multi medium matte. .

Next I swiped some watery Gesso all over it to blend it all together a bit and stamped some of the swirls and splats in random places

I sprayed some mica sprays in various light blue and green shades and added further colour with distress inks in Shabby Shutters, Broken China and Tumbled Glass. I stamped the  gothic window from the Archtecture plate in Black Archival ink onto copy paper, cut it out and also collaged it onto the canvas, for some more texture I added some crumpled tissue paper and then swiped more of my inks over it and also some Viva gold. I wanted to highlight the texture with that and also make it appear as if light was falling onto the window.

Next I cut a small piece of chipboard, covered it with Viva Ferro, wetted the Create stamp from the journaling words and pressed it into the Ferro.

Now, for the most difficult part: waiting until the Ferro would dry. As on this occasion I did not want it to bubble, so I did not use my heat gun and just had to be patient. While waiting I got my other embellishments ready. I stamped one of the elements from the Archtecture plate onto white card stock in black Archival, cut it out and coloured it with Chipped Sappphire Distress ink. I cut a swirl out of vanilla card stock and coloured it green with Pine Needle Distress Ink. I glued it along the frame of the gothic window and then added some little burgundy roses that I had high lighted a bit with the Viva gold.

When the Ferro was dry I coloured it with a Denim Blue dabber and highlighted the letters with some gold acrylic paint from my stash

Finally I put it all together by adding some string, the architecture element (to which I added 3 gold pearls, and the little Create panel over the string.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS, Frame

Hi all Kat here,
I am very excited to show my first piece of art work showing off my first ever set of stamp designs,
still having to pinch myself about it,
I hope you like them cos there's more on the way, fingers crossed.
here it is,

the frame was painted with black acrylic paint

& aged with a bit of inka gold in antique silver,

the images are from my stamp sets HERE

every thing is stamped with Jet black archival ink

& coloured with a verity of Distress Inks

I used the stipple background 

to give a bit of texture to the sky.

Tick Tock by Alison Hall

Hello Stampers! I'm back with my final piece for August. I had a lot of fun with this card, I can tell you! It has a bit of a manly theme going on, so it fits nicely with the August Challenge of Macho Men. There's still a few more days to join in! I also used Core'dinations paper, which is on special offer this month HERE.

Here's how I made my card...

Using a deckle-edged metal ruler, I tore a 5.5 inch square of peeled painted Distress Core'dinations paper. Next, I thinned down some Claudine Helmuth traditional tan Studio paint with a spritz of water, & applied a wash across my paper. I sanded over the edges with a sanding grip to give a distressed look.

I used vintage photo distress ink to stamp the Winged Wheel over my background. I stamped Phineas Pinchbeck on the left, using archival black ink, then, using the same ink, carefully stamped the empty Inspiration Jar over the top of Phineas. I coloured this in, using peeled paint & vintage photo distress inks, dried it with my heat tool, then covered the jar with a layer of glossy accents.

Whilst the glossy accents was drying, I stamped some pocket watches from the Time & Keys plate onto the clear side of some frosted shrink plastic, cut them out, then shrank them with my heat tool. Next I stamped the words Tick Tock onto white card, using the large & small scrabble tiles from the Scrabble & Tags plate. I cut out the words, then inked them with vintage photo distress ink.

Going back to my now dry background, I smeared bead gel around the edges, using my fingers. You can use a palette knife if you wish! Once this had dried, I applied lava green Inka Gold to highlight the little beads. Told you I had fun!

Finally, I glued the words & watches to my background, attached it to a square card blank, then inked the edges of the card with more vintage photo distress ink.

Angel Child by Alison Hall

Hello Stampers, I have an altered wooden frame to share with you today.

First of all, I mixed a smidgen of sunset orange paint into some white gesso, then painted the whole frame with it. Then I painted a coat of rock candy crackle over the front. When this was dry, I used cut n dry foam to rub vintage photo distress ink into the cracks, to highlight them. I used a slightly damp cloth to wipe the excess ink off.

I stamped the flourishes in the two opposite corners with black stazon ink, then used orange viva gold to add some pearly highlights.

Next I stamped the girl image from the Childhood Dreams plate onto some book page. I mounted this onto tattered rose & spiced marmalade distress coredinations paper, then inked the edges with vintage photo distress ink.

I embossed a piece of black soot distress coredinations paper, using a Tim Holtz texture fade, then sanded it to reveal the core. I mounted my image onto this, then inserted it into the frame.

I stamped three medium flowers from the Flower Power plate, onto tattered rose distress coredinations paper, & three onto the spiced marmalade, then cut them out & embossed them, using Tim's dotty texture fade. I cut 6 leaves out of peeled paint coredinations paper, using Tim'smini branch & leaf die. I sanded & inked all the flowers & leaves, added the stamped button centre from a freebie Artistic Stamper stamp from The Craft Stamper magazine to each of the flowers.

Finally, I arranged the flowers & leaves in opposite corners of the frame, then added the stamped words from the Childhood Dreams plate.

Jewellery Box by Alison Hall

Hello Stampers!

For my first post this month, I decided to decorate a little wooden box. I used the small 6x6x3.5 cm one, available from The Artistic Stamper here.

First of all, I took off the hinges, using a small screw-driver, then I painted the box & lid usingshell pink paint dabber. Then I painted all but the insides of them with red pepper dabber. Then I used my finger to rub some Viva Inka Gold Rose over the outsides of the box & lid.

For the phrase inside the lid, I stamped the phrase from the Botanical 3 plate. I cut out each word, then edged them with distress inks & glued them inside the lid.

I glued some gold lace around the base, then re-attached the hinges.

For the flower, I took two squares of gold metal, big enough to stamp the large & medium flowers from the Flower Power plate on. I used a damp piece of cut & dry foam to paint one of the pieces with the Inka Gold Rose. It took a couple of coats to get a good coverage.

I stuck the pieces of metal to two pieces of black card, using Humungo tape, as this makes the pieces more durable for shaping. Then I stamped the large flower onto the plain gold piece, & the medium flower onto the painted piece, using black stazon ink. I cut the flowers out, then stamped the gold flower with the lace background stamp, using the stazon ink.

I edged both flowers, using a Ten Second Studio wheel tool, cut into the petals of each flower, about half an inch, then shaped & layered them together, using glossy accents.

I added one of Tim's Fanciful Accoutrement buttons to the centre of the flower. These are on special offer on The Artistic Stamper website, at the moment, together with Tim's Baubles, & some of his Alteration Dies.

Finally, I glued the flower onto my box, et voila! A pretty little jewellery box, just perfect as a gift, containing a small piece of jewellery.

I also made another metal flower, and this time, I attached a brooch back to it, for a pretty piece of wearable art.

Textures On Canvas by Alison Hall

Hello Stampers!

This week I have an 8" square canvas to share with you.

The Artistic Stamper Website has a fantastic selection of background stamps, and for this canvas I just used 5 of these, plus a few other supplies.

Distress stains are brilliant for colouring large areas, and I used broken china & a little vintage photo to colour my canvas. I also spritzed it with heirloom gold perfect pearls mist.

I cut nine 2" square pieces of board. To colour them, I schmooshed broken china, dusty concord & faded jeans distress inks on my craft sheet. I spritzed this with heirloom gold perfect pearls mist, then lay my little tiles in the sparkly ink, drying them with my heat gun, then adding more ink until I had a nice effect on each of them.

On four of the tiles, I stamped four different backgrounds, using broken china distress ink.

I triple embossed the remaining 5 tiles with clear ultra thick embossing enamel, stamping into the last layer with different background stamps, including one script stamp.

I rubbed gold Viva Inka Gold into the embossed texture, then rubbed most of it off, leaving gold accents in the dips of the embossing. Then, I edged each of the nine tiles with gold paint dabber, before gluing them to the canvas with Studio Matte Medium.

Finally, I used my finger to rub some Inka Gold around the edges of my canvas, then added some gold crown charms to four of the tiles.
